Pet Acting, How to Get In and Get Call Backs

Posted by Awesome Doggies

One of the best things for us at Awesome Doggies Mobile Grooming is getting to know your pets. We think your pets are stupendous, and maybe even the next star! If you have ever considered getting your dog or cat into movies, commercials, or print ads, here are some tips on how to make it happen.

No matter how talented your pet might be, if he or she can’t handle crowds, lights, and noise, then showbiz probably isn’t for them. Make sure your pet is used to plenty of touching by strangers and acclimated to strange noises.

Step Up the Training

Find a professional dog trainer that can help your dog in obedience, off and on-leash commands, socialization, and distance. Find one that specializes in teaching unusual tricks that may come in handy in getting gigs as well as in helping your dog respond immediately to commands. Time is money in showbiz, so it is essential that your pet can take commands well to help facilitate a smooth shot.

Keep your pet fit, healthy, and looking beautiful with regular vet checks, feeding them the proper foods, and using quality shampoo and conditioners. Get  your pet groomed regularly to keep the coat shiny, healthy, and ready for close-ups.

Get Some Photos

Get some great pictures of your pet for a portfolio. Professional shots are best, but any well-lit and well-composed shots are helpful.

Get an Agent

Find a reputable agent. Ask around and do your research.  Make sure the agent and agency is pet-savvy – i.e., one that sets up auditions, suggests areas of training, and helps promote your pet.

Get Ready for the Action

Having an animal actor or animal model is a lot like being a stage parent. There is plenty of driving and rushing to appointments involved, some rejection, and lots of waiting around for something to happen. The effort is worth the fun though. Who knows—you may have the next big star!
